  • What a Beautiful Day it was!

The wedding was AWESOME! We couldn't have asked for a sunnier day! And everything went off without any problems whatsoever!

Pictures should be up soon. We are still compiling pictures from everyone's cameras. So, please, if you're reading this, please upload your pics somewhere and let me know where I can find them!

    Thanks!
    Pauline & Jake Gopinath!

  • I know I know,...

    but I just couldn't resist

My friends and those who love me will understand that I am passionate about politics. And so, using the awesomeness of technology, I've posted a widget from MSNBC displaying the countdown. The countdown will be replaced with the electoral map a few hours before polls close.

And just to beat the horse further,....a widget from CBS....for comparison in this historic election!!

Yes,...I'm a freak and a first time US voter. Go Obama!

  • Welcome to USA!

I used to line up my dominos and my favorite part is to push the first one down and watch the progression. Jake's dad and Krishna recently just landed on American soil and enjoying their American Fall Vacation!!! It has started....

  • 17 days to go!

That's not a lot of time!

I just realized that there's only 17 days left. OMG!

I still don't have all the decorations ordered and no makeup artist and no pianist! Yeeks!

On the upside: The wedding dress is done, florist done, marriage license done, party location done, cakes & cake table done!

Invitations are finally out! I'm purposely not posting a picture of it anywhere (here, Flickr) until y'all see it in the mail. I don't know about ya'll, but I LOVE wedding invitations. Eveything about them - seeing them in the stack of mail, seeing who it's from, feeling the paper, opening the envelope....everything! Anyway, I created a freaking factory production line for the invitations. First, the backing, then embossing, then adding the crystals, then calligraphy and finally inserting. I am so glad I only had 35 to do!

I can't wait for everyone to receive these little packets of love & joy in the mail!!

  • Details are NOT me

I am not a detail-oriented person. But it just suddenly occured to me that I have that on my resume! hehehe. Probably need to change that.

Anyways,...we are almost down to the last month or so before the wedding. I have committed to sending out the invitations this weekend. Due to my "ADD-ness" (low occurrence), I've brought it upon myself to add more work to just mailing the invites. My dining room table is now covered with craft store bags filled with crystals, heat guns and what nots. I'm just glad the wedding is somewhat small.

What else? Singapore reception dress should be arriving from designer next week. Can't Wait! It happens to resemble many of the top fashion designer gowns seen on celebrities at the recent Emmys. I am so excited!!!!

Points of stress (READ: things I haven't wrapped up) for me right now are:
    1) Wedding Dress Alteration - don't ask.
    2) Cupcakes - totally forgot about this
    3) Music for wedding
    4) Flowers and Decor
    5) Timeline

OK,...need to end post NOW - totally and completely stressed out!

  • Take a Hike, Ike!

We are safe and sound after Hurricane Ike tore through Galveston and Houston. As always, I escaped another storm by being in Dallas. My sister Auris also escpaed this time by being on vacation in LA. Poor Jake had to hold down the fort with our 2 baby cats! Luckily, our house was one of the 4% of Houston homes to have power through the storm and after. So, right now, the only thing we're lacking is our phone - which means,...no Internet!!! OH NO! I AM SO GOING TO DIE!

Anyways,...I want to remind everyone that the deadline to reserve your hotel rooms at the Westin Galleria at the group rate is October 15! You can book it through this site under the "Where to Stay" tab.

  • We are so lucky!!!

    Wedding Prep Checklist

    • Church - Check
    • Reception - Check
    • Photographer for bridals - Check
    • Photographer for guys - Check
    • Photographer for ceremony & reception - CHECK!
Yay! Another thing checked off the never-ending To Do list.

What's the lucky part you ask? We're lucky because we get the chance to work with 3 amazing photographers - 2 of them being our awesome friends Erin G. of Erin G. Photography and Bryan Peters of Bryan Peters. :) The last photographer is,...(drum roll please) none other than previously reviewed Kimberly Moore of K&C Photography. That's right, Jake & I were able to reserve her for our wedding! She's extremely fun and bubbly and extremely talented. I love her off-beat artistic perspective and she does some amazing post-production work. She knows she's good and she certainly doesn't come cheap.

As more & more items get crossed off, I am most definitely feeling more & more excited!!!

    Stay tuned!

  • Photographers Needed

    now taking applications

I hope we're not too late to find a photography studio for our November 15th wedding. I am waiting to hear back from Kimberly Moore from K&C Photography. From what I know, Kimberly does such amazing work. Her points of view are fresh, modern, stylish and have an intimate, loving quality about them. Check out one of my favorites from her website.

  • Dear John...

    Dear John (from Nearlyweds),

Thank you for your prompt attention to fixing my little issues regarding font colors. It is very important for my guests to have the ability to see the links in my blog entries. So, I hope that you don't think I'm asking for too much with this tiny little additional request.

Can you please add a RSS subscription feature to the blog so that not only am I not just sending my rants, ramblings and wise words to cyber-nothingness but also that my geeky friends can follow my updates and share in the pain of going through wedding planning!

Thank you John for listening,...are you?

  • Difficult to Say the Least

coming up with content is hard!

It seems that everywhere I turn, there's a blog. And of course the multi-billion dollar CRAZY wedding industry is on the blogging bandwagon. So here I am,..."documenting" the wedding planning process, the wedding and finally sharing with my entire world all the days leading up to one of the happiest days of my life. I promise I'll try to keep the rants to a minimum - but don't count on reading none.

So far, I've been able to ask Jake for support in the logistical aspect of the event. So, what does that leave me? All the "fun" things said my colleague. For example, last weekend, I went up to Dallas to get an Indian fusion designer to create an exquisite dress for me to wear in Singapore. Ooohh,....if the dress looks anything like the one I am attempting to knock off, it will be gorgeous. I agree,...some things about weddings are fun.
